Babydolls are perfect for handlers of all ages, but great for kids not old enough to sell a market animal or who are not ready to say goodbye to their fair project. Youth in Okanogan County have entered Babydolls in Fitting and Showing classes, The Lad and Lassie wool contest, and the breed classes. They are also a big hit in the Little People Fitting and Showing class and usually draw a crowd in the sheep barn!

However, a sheep should be more than just cute to be part of a breeding program. We select for health, soundness and general vigor followed by conformation, muscling, correct size and coloring. In ewes we look for strong maternal qualities which include fertility, lambing ease and good udders. Testing for genetic resistance to the scrapie disease is also important to us. For this reason, we like to use conformationally correct rams that also test RR at codon 171 to insure our lambs will have at least one R for genetic resistance.
